Cyclone from the northwest brings unsettled weather to Latvia this week
A large northwest-originating cyclone will bring cloud cover, rain and gusty winds to Latvia, with brief calmer periods mid-week.
According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, a substantial cyclone moving in from the northwest will affect Latvia at the start of the week, producing overcast conditions, rain showers and gusts up to 19 m/s along the coast. Early daytime highs will reach +15 °C to +18 °C, while overnight temperatures fall to +5 °C-+10 °C. By Tuesday, rain will be limited to eastern regions and clouds will begin to clear from the northwest, though winds remain strong.
Mid-week forecasts show a lull with lighter southerly breezes, possible light precipitation in Vidzeme on Wednesday, and dry weather on Thursday, with night temperatures dropping to +5 °C-+9 °C and frost possible. A second cyclone is predicted to approach from the west toward the weekend, bringing renewed rain and stronger coastal winds, while daytime highs will stay below +15 °C.
