Cyprus industrial output rises 1.1% in July, bucking EU downturn
Cyprus reported a 1.1% increase in industrial production in July, while overall output fell across the EU and the euro area.
According to Eurostat, Cyprus' industrial production rose 1.1% in July 2026, reversing a 1.4% decline the month before and a 0.4% fall in May. This modest gain placed Cyprus among the handful of EU economies that posted growth, though the increase was far smaller than the 4.5% surge in Luxembourg, 3.9% in Croatia and 2.6% in Ireland. Across the broader EU, output slipped 0.3% in July, following a 0.1% decline in June, while the euro area saw a 0.1% contraction for the second consecutive month.
The report also highlighted sectoral trends, with intermediate goods and energy output rising in the euro area, while non-durable consumer goods fell. The most pronounced monthly declines among member states were in Denmark (-4.2%), Bulgaria (-2.9%) and Lithuania (-2.4%).
