Czech chief editors call on politicians to respect free information and reject violence

Leading editors of Czech media issued a joint appeal to politicians, urging them to reject any form of violence and to guarantee unrestricted public access to official information.

Chief editors representing dozens of Czech newspapers, broadcasters and online platforms signed a collective statement aimed at the political class across the country. The document highlighted the vital role of a free and pluralistic media landscape in a democratic society and called for an end to any rhetoric that could fuel violence. It urged politicians and their supporters to practice respectful communication, especially on social media, and to ensure that official information from public bodies is accessible to every citizen.

The editors asserted that state agencies do not belong to the individuals who manage them, reinforcing the principle of transparency.
