Czech climber falls on Grundschartner ridge and is airlifted to hospital
A Czech woman was injured after falling about five metres on the Grundschartner ridge in the Zillertal Alps and was flown to a hospital in Hall near Innsbruck.
The climber was part of a four-person party tackling the north ridge of Grundschartner. After the group split into pairs, a rock anchor failed, causing her to slip five metres from the previous protection point and land on her back. Fellow climbers administered first aid before rescue teams arrived. Helicopter crews then transported her to a medical facility in Hall, close to Innsbruck.
