Czech fuel prices reach peak since 2022 as outlook stays upward

Petrol and diesel in Czechia have climbed to their highest levels since August 2022, with Natural 95 at CZK 44.22 per litre and diesel at CZK 47.79, and analysts predict further increases.

The average price of Natural 95 petrol rose by CZK 1.88 to CZK 44.22 per litre, while diesel went up CZK 1.90 to CZK 47.79, according to price-monitoring agency CCS. Compared with a year ago, petrol is about CZK 10.50 more expensive and diesel about CZK 15.50 higher. The government debated the surge on Monday but chose not to cap retailers' margins. Earlier this year the state introduced a temporary price-control regime that ran from April to mid-July. Analysts attribute the rise largely to the Middle-East conflict that began in late February and expect prices to keep climbing.
