Czech Republic Secures €309 Million EU SAFE Funding for Tanks and Infrastructure
The Czech Republic has received €309 million from the EU SAFE defence fund, covering 15% of its allocated €2 billion. The loan will finance Leopard 2A8 tanks, Tatra T-815 vehicles and possible use of the D11 motorway for military purposes.
The European Commission announced that the Czech Republic obtained €309 million from the EU SAFE (Security Action for Europe) fund, representing 15 percent of the total €2 billion earmarked for the country. The defence loan is earmarked for the purchase of Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks and Tatra T-815 transport vehicles. In addition, the financing may support the conversion of the D11 motorway for military use, strengthening the nation’s defence capabilities and infrastructure.
