Czech transport ministry greenlights Tesla FSD Supervised, driver stays fully liable

The Czech Republic’s Ministry of Transport has formally accepted the provisional EU-type approval issued by the Dutch authority RDW for Tesla’s FSD Supervised driver-assistance system, aligning the country with the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and other European states that allow its use. Classified as a SAE Level-2 system, the technology provides partial automation but obliges the driver to watch the road at all times and to intervene instantly, with all legal responsibility staying with the driver.

Minister Ivan Bednárik said the decision followed months of safety-focused evaluations, consultations with European partners and discussions with Tesla Europe. The review examined how the system respects speed limits, interprets road signs, and monitors driver attention, as well as mechanisms to prevent misuse. Additional technical data from member states and EU bodies helped resolve earlier uncertainties. The ministry aims to foster autonomous-driving innovation while maintaining strict regulatory oversight.
