Dacia plant in Mioveni halts production for two days amid weak demand

Automobile Dacia S.A. will suspend manufacturing at its Mioveni factory for two days because of low market demand, while assuring pay for affected workers.

Automobile Dacia S.A. has decided to stop production at its Mioveni facility for two days in response to a decline in automotive market demand. Workers who are not assigned shifts on those days will be paid according to their individual employment contracts and the collective labor agreement. The shutdown will not affect all staff; teams handling essential activities like rework, spare-part manufacturing, logistics, inventory checks and plant upkeep will remain on site.

Management will inform the designated personnel and coordinate their presence as needed. The decision follows Renault Group's earlier notice that the upcoming Dacia Striker and the next-generation electric Spring will be produced outside Romania.

Why it matters

The pause highlights challenges in the Romanian auto sector and reassures workers about continued pay during production cuts.
