Daewoo E&C pushes into nuclear, LNG and AI-linked projects worldwide

Daewoo Engineering & Construction is scaling up its overseas energy activities, adding nuclear power, LNG terminals and AI-heavy infrastructure to its core construction business. Chairman Jung Won-ju met Hanoi Mayor Vu Dai Thang in Seoul to discuss joint urban-development and energy initiatives, following earlier discussions with Vietnam’s Industry and Trade Minister Le Manh Hung about nuclear and LNG projects. In Indonesia, Jung proposed a combined model of small modular reactors, LNG terminals, power plants and gigawatt-scale AI data centers, building on the company’s seven projects there since 1986.

A recent memorandum with Sinar Mas Land and Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corp. supports a township development near Jakarta. Daewoo will also use its involvement in the Dukovany nuclear plant in the Czech Republic to chase further contracts across Europe, the Middle East and other emerging nuclear markets, while eyeing SMR and decommissioning work.
