Daiwa Securities reports possible leak of personal data for 110,000 customers

Daiwa Securities Group said unauthorized access to a contractor's server may have exposed personal details of about 110,000 brokerage customers.

Daiwa Securities Group Inc. disclosed that a server managed by its contractor, Scala Communications Inc., was accessed without authorization between Friday evening and Saturday morning. The server stored information related to online customer inquiries, including personal identifiers like names, email addresses and account numbers for about 110,000 brokerage clients. In total, around 220,000 pieces of data, including non-personal inquiry records, may have been exposed.

The firm emphasized that the leaked data does not enable the execution of transactions, including online trades. Daiwa has not verified whether the information has been posted or shared online. No evidence of misuse has been reported so far.
