Danantara Begins Construction of Rp2.8 trillion Waste-to-Energy Plant in Bogor
Danantara has started building the Bogor Raya Waste-to-Energy Power Plant, a Rp2.8 trillion project that will process over 500,000 tons of waste each year.
Danantara’s investment arm has broken ground on the Bogor Raya Waste-to-Energy Power Plant in Galuga Village, Cibungbulang District, marking the start of a Rp2.8 trillion venture. The project will employ about 1,200 workers and is designed to lower reliance on landfills by roughly 80 percent. With a capacity to treat more than 500,000 tons of waste per year, it will divert around 45 percent of the total waste produced in Bogor City and Regency.
Environmental benefits include an estimated cut of 640,000 metric tons of carbon-equivalent emissions and a reduction of land needed for disposal sites by 80 percent. The plant will generate renewable electricity sufficient for over 100,000 households in Greater Bogor. Scheduled to begin operations by mid-2028, the initiative is managed by the Nusantara Bogor New Energy Development and Management Entity and will be followed by a second plant in Kayumanis. Danantara has previously begun similar projects in Denpasar and Bekasi, with an international team of specialists from multiple countries supporting the effort.
Why it matters
The plant will significantly reduce landfill waste, cut emissions and provide renewable power for thousands of homes in Bogor.
