Daniele Tavoni arrested for the brutal double murder of his parents in Mirandola
Police have detained 54-year-old Daniele Tavoni in connection with the decapitation and killing of his mother, Vincenza Giannini, 74, and her husband, Pietro Ferdinando Casari, 82, in a house near Mirandola.
In the outskirts of Mirandola, the bodies of 74-year-old Vincenza Giannini and her 82-year-old husband, Pietro Ferdinando Casari, were discovered inside a house, their heads found in two basins separate from the corpses. Police arrested 54-year-old Daniele Tavoni, who lived nearby, after finding him blood-stained around the property. Tavoni, previously employed in various low-skill jobs and formerly at the biomedical firm Haemotronic where his mother also worked, had been receiving treatment for a psychotic disorder but had stopped attending the mental-health centre.
The investigation uncovered garden shears used to decapitate the victims, still bearing clear blood evidence. Neighbours noted that the couple’s failure to appear at a local day-care centre triggered the police call that led to the discovery.
