Danish Man Charged After Punch Leads to Swedish Fan’s Death at Norway Football Screening

During a public screening of Norway’s football match against Ivory Coast at Islands Brygge, Swedish fan Christian Zedig, 32, was punched by a 31-year-old Danish man. The blow to the head or neck caused injuries that led to Zedig’s death three days after the incident. Police also accuse the suspect of hurling two beer cans toward a group of spectators, striking another individual.

The Copenhagen police have filed charges under paragraph 244, which carries a maximum sentence of three years, though prior convictions could raise the potential term to four and a half years. The case also includes a count of assault for the beer-can attack. A court hearing has been scheduled for the upcoming months.
