Darren Criss and Sherry Cola Join Disney Channel’s Sidekick-Focused Descendants Film

Disney Channel announced that Darren Criss and Sherry Cola have joined the cast of Hidden Heroes: A Descendants Story, a music-driven film that expands the Descendants universe by focusing on beloved Disney sidekicks. Criss is slated to play Jiminy Cricket and Cola will appear as Yzma, while James Monroe Iglehart returns as Genie, Hugo Ateo as Kronk, Sean Yves Lessard as Lumière and Dan Bakkedahl as Yen Sid. The plot centers on a hidden academy where the offspring of legendary sidekicks train to become elite partners, confronting a villainous duo that threatens the fairy-tale world.

Lead young characters include Dior Goodjohn as Jennie, Momona Tamada as Zara, Jacob Rodriguez as Kronk Jr., Eva Fossaceca Smedley as Meri and Harry Jones as Lou, supported by the Potts siblings played by Rhys Dawkins, Connor Wong and Kyra Wong. Directed by Jude Weng and written by Tamara Chestna, Eydie Faye and Emma Fletcher, the movie is produced by Disney Kids & Family with executive producers Mark Ordesky, Jane Fleming, Gary Marsh and Tamara Chestna. Choreography is handled by Louise Hradsky and Jeffrey Mortensen, and the project follows the recent success of Descendants: Wicked Wonderland on Disney+.
