Principal Secretary Shaktikanta Das called for sustained reforms and greater self-reliance, while keeping India integrated with global markets, to achieve the Viksit Bharat goal.
At the Ministry of Finance-organized Kautilya Economic Conclave, Principal Secretary Shaktikanta Das highlighted the critical role of continuous reforms in sustaining India’s growth momentum toward the Viksit Bharat vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. He defined "aatmanirbharta" as building robust domestic capacities while staying linked to global markets, citing around eight trade deals concluded in the past five years and two FTAs already implemented this fiscal year, with another with New Zealand expected soon.
Das outlined priority sectors such as artificial intelligence, strategic manufacturing, and critical technology development, urging investment in indigenous AI models, high-performance computing, and semiconductor ecosystems. He also called for deeper financial architecture, longer-term financing channels, and greater patient capital to support growth. While warning of global risks like restrictive monetary policies, rising debt, and geopolitical tensions, he affirmed India’s resilience and capacity to absorb oil price shocks, positioning the country for the next phase of development.
