Dashcam footage shows high-speed crash that killed Abaan Ahmed and friend near Jhansi

A dashcam recording from August 6, posted online Wednesday, depicts a Hyundai Creta speeding past a pickup truck and then crashing into a divider near the Poonch police-station area, about 70 km before Jhansi. The vehicle, traveling at around 120 kmph, was thrown several feet into the air, resulting in the deaths of Abaan Ahmed, 21, son of former mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, and his friend Sonu. Five occupants were inside; three—Umar Ahmed, Mohammad Zaid and Aslam—sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby health centre.

A local witness broke a door open to rescue the trapped passengers, noting that Abaan briefly identified himself before losing consciousness. Post-mortem reports indicated severe internal trauma, including ruptured liver, lungs and spleen, leading to massive internal bleeding. Police are using the video, eyewitness accounts and forensic evidence to piece together the crash sequence.
