Daughter and boyfriend arrested for killing guard father and hiding body in locked room
Police detained Pooja and her boyfriend after they allegedly murdered her 55-year-old father, security guard Shyam Sundar Katheriya, and concealed his corpse in a box inside a locked apartment.
Authorities in Etawah arrested Pooja and her boyfriend late Sunday night on suspicion of killing her 55-year-old father, security guard Shyam Sundar Katheriya, and stashing the body in a sealed box inside a locked room at Kanshiram Colony. The discovery followed complaints from neighbours about a strong foul smell emanating from room 216 on the first floor of Block 14, leading police to force entry and find the corpse wrapped in polythene and three blankets.
SSP Brijesh Kumar Srivastava noted the body appeared to be several days old, and investigators believe Katheriya’s opposition to the couple’s relationship was a motive. Pooja, who had been living with her father, went missing before being apprehended, and her lover was also taken into custody. SP City Babita Singh confirmed that forensic experts are collecting evidence and a post-mortem will establish the exact cause of death. Katheriya’s eldest daughter Kajal, who last spoke to him five days earlier, expressed suspicion about Pooja’s involvement.
