Dave Bautista Cast as Kratos for Amazon Prime Video's God of War Series
Dave Bautista has been confirmed to portray Kratos in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video adaptation of the God of War franchise.
Dave Bautista is now officially set to lead the Amazon Prime Video adaptation of the God of War video-game series as the titular character Kratos. The casting change follows Ryan Hurst's injury, which forced a recast and delayed the schedule. Bautista, represented by WME and Jackoway Austen Tyerman, is considered well-suited for the physically demanding role without extensive preparation.
Amazon and Sony have ordered two seasons of the show, planning to shoot them consecutively after production restarts in Vancouver. All scenes previously shot with Hurst will be re-filmed, and the series will continue to follow the narrative of Kratos and his son Atreus from the recent games. The project involves a large creative team, including writer-producer Ronald D. Moore and director Frederick E.O. Toye for the opening episodes.
Why it matters
The casting of a high-profile actor signals strong backing for the ambitious video-game-to-TV adaptation.
