DCCC adds three diverse challengers to Red to Blue slate ahead of House races

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee expanded its Red to Blue program to include three more House hopefuls, bringing the total to 40 candidates. Bill Hill, a commercial fisherman and former regional school superintendent, will run as an independent in Alaska's at-large district, positioning himself as an "Alaska first" pragmatist against Republican freshman Nick Begich. Progressive activist Will Lawrence, a co-founder of the Sunrise Movement, secured the Democratic nomination for Michigan's swingy 7th district, though his past social-media posts have drawn criticism.

Emergency-room nurse Mitchell Berman entered the race for Wisconsin's 1st district, where he faces well-funded incumbent Republican Bryan Steil. DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene praised the trio as unbought, practical leaders capable of winning in challenging districts, noting that less than 50 days remain until the election. The Red to Blue program offers added funding and strategic support to its selected candidates as the party eyes House gains.
