Deadly multi-vehicle crash on Western Cape highway leaves at least 21 killed

A fatal traffic accident struck two passenger vans on a highway in South Africa's Western Cape province on Sunday night, killing at least 21 people. The collision took place at approximately 23:30 local time on the stretch of road located 3801 kilometres from the province, between Prince Albert and Leeu-Gamka. Emergency responders reported that several additional passengers suffered serious injuries.

Both vans were transporting multiple occupants, but the precise cause of the crash remains unknown. Local officials have launched an investigation and warned that the tragedy highlights persistent road-safety challenges in the area. Families of the victims are being notified, and hospitals are treating the injured.
