Death toll from Los Gallardos forest fire rises to 15 after British victim succumbs
The death count from the Los Gallardos wildfire in Almería has increased to 15 following the hospital death of a British woman who suffered severe burns.
The Los Gallardos wildfire in Almería, which began in the afternoon and burned for fifteen days, has claimed fifteen lives, the regional government announced. The most recent death is that of M.L., a British woman who had been hospitalized with serious burns after escaping the flames with the help of a vehicle. M.L. had resided in Spain for more than twenty years, lived near Canjáyar, and was employed as a senior-care aide in Bédar.
Earlier, twelve victims were found dead at the fire scene, and a 93-year-old woman rescued alongside M.L. died shortly after admission to a hospital, with another patient passing away later in Sevilla. The investigation, led by the Vera court, is examining the origins and spread of the fire, which affected the municipalities of Bédar, Antas, Lubrín and Sorbas.
