Deborah Mailman to become first Indigenous inductee in Logie Hall of Fame

Deborah Mailman is set to become the first Indigenous person ever inducted into the Logie Awards Hall of Fame, marking a milestone she describes as long overdue. The Bidjara and Maori actor highlighted that the recognition honors not only her career but also the pioneers who paved the way for Indigenous talent in the industry. Mailman will be the sixth woman to join the Hall of Fame in the awards' 40-year history, after Rebecca Gibney in 2024 and Magda Szubanski in 2025.

Her recent Logie win in 2024 for best lead actress in a drama underscores her continued impact. The 2026 Logies feature a notable presence of First Nations nominees in categories such as new talent, lead and supporting actors, and several drama and comedy programs. Mailman sees the ceremony as a celebration of the growing strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytelling on screen.
