Deepti Gaur Mukerjee appointed as India's new higher education secretary
The government has named IAS officer Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, a 1993-batch Madhya Pradesh cadre, as the higher education secretary, succeeding Vineet Joshi.
In a late-night reshuffle, the administration appointed Deepti Gaur Mukerjee to head the higher education department, taking over from Vineet Joshi, who moved to the Panchayati Raj secretariat. The decision follows a brief period when Rajasthan cadre officer Naresh Pal Gangwar was slated for the role, but his appointment was suspended. Mukerjee belongs to the 1993 IAS batch and hails from the Madhya Pradesh cadre.
