Defence hearing for four accused in Nhaveen murder case set for tomorrow
The High Court has scheduled a defence hearing for four men charged with murdering bullying victim T. Nhaveen, after granting an adjournment to review final witness statements.
In George Town, the High Court fixed a defence hearing for four individuals accused of killing 18-year-old T. Nhaveen, a case that sparked nationwide calls against bullying. Judge Datuk Mohd Radzi Abdul Hamid granted an adjournment after the defence sought more time to finalize four written witness statements, which were handed to the court and the prosecution this morning. Defence counsel Maanveer Singh Dhillon explained the limited prison visits hampered earlier preparation, but the statements are now complete.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Amri Johari, representing the state alongside Deputy Public Prosecutor Yazid Mustaqim Roslan, asked for further time to scrutinise the documents. The hearing is set for 9.30 am, with the defence noting that one accused will need a Tamil interpreter. The accused include J. Ragesuthan, S. Gokulan, and two juveniles at the time of the 2017 assault near Jalan Kaki Bukit, Gelugor.
Why it matters
The hearing determines how the legal process will proceed in a high-profile bullying-related murder case.
