Defense Begins Witnesses After Prosecutors Rest in Lindsay Clancy Murder Case

Prosecutors have concluded their presentation in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, and the defense is now calling its own witnesses.

In Plymouth, Massachusetts, the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy entered its next phase as prosecutors rested after three weeks of testimony. Clancy, a former labor-and-delivery nurse, admitted to strangling her three children on Jan. 24, 2023, before trying to end her own life. The state argued she acted intentionally, sending her husband out for takeout and a pharmacy run before the killings.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington does not dispute the act but contends that postpartum psychosis, bipolar disorder, and adverse reactions to antidepressants should absolve her of criminal liability. Witnesses have described her erratic treatment history, including brief psychiatric admissions and inconsistent medication use, while doctors testified they never observed overt mania or psychosis. The jury has also seen emotional moments, such as Clancy’s sobbing during testimony and graphic autopsy photos of the children. Earlier, former husband Patrick Clancy recounted discovering the bodies and a disturbing 911 call.
