Defense Ministry company spends heavily on near-complete luxury villa
The Ministry of Defence’s corporate arm paid a large sum for a nearly finished luxury house in Dunakeszi, which remains unused after senior officers moved out.
An audit of building contracts shows that HM EI Zrt., the corporate entity of the Ministry of Defence, spent a substantial amount on a luxury villa in Dunakeszi that was nearly finished at the time of acquisition. The house was initially used by Ruszin-Szendi Romulusz while he served as a senior commander, but he left after a few months and his replacement, Böröndi Gábor, opted for a rented property elsewhere, leaving the villa empty.
The contracts indicate unusually high fees for labor, with rates comparable to a 300,000-forint hourly wage, and costly line items for plants, garden fixtures, and roof and terrace work. Material costs also exceeded expectations. The villa now incurs monthly upkeep expenses for HM EI Zrt., despite remaining unoccupied.
