Delhi adds 138 H1N1 infections in 24 hours, total cases exceed 2,400

In the latest health bulletin, Delhi reported 138 fresh H1N1 infections, bringing the year's total to 2,446 and raising the overall Influenza-A figure to 3,177. The Delhi Medical Association cautioned the public to use N95 masks, practice hand and respiratory hygiene, and refrain from taking antibiotics or antivirals without medical advice. Health minister Pankaj Kumar Singh led a virtual review with medical directors and superintendents of Delhi government hospitals, directing them to maintain at least five isolation beds and, for larger facilities, ten or more beds for flu and vector-borne diseases.

Hospitals were instructed to set up dedicated flu corners in emergency departments, ensure round-the-clock staffing, and keep supplies for specimen collection readily available. Special attention was called for the care of children and senior citizens. Singh reassured citizens that most cases were mild, urged vigilance without panic, and pledged ongoing monitoring of influenza trends and hospital readiness.
