Delhi cab driver, wife and son detained after passenger killed in fare fight
Police in New Delhi arrested a cab driver, his wife and son after a passenger was found dead following a dispute over a fare of about Rs 1,000-1,500.
A routine cab ride in Delhi turned lethal when a passenger was found dead near a west-Delhi NGO, his body bearing a deep head injury and several other wounds. CCTV analysis linked the scene to a Maruti Eeco owned by 59-year-old Rajinder Kumar, who confessed to picking up the man from Gurgaon’s IFFCO Chowk and engaging in a heated argument over a fare of roughly Rs 1,000-1,500. According to police, Kumar assaulted the passenger with bricks and an earthen-pot-like object, causing fatal injuries.
He then summoned his 50-year-old wife Kamini Mukhija and 28-year-old son Laksh Makhija, who attempted to hide the victim’s clothes and the vehicle. The trio has been arrested, the car confiscated, and the victim’s clothing and shoes recovered, while his identity remains unknown.
