Delhi CEO reports major progress on voter list discrepancies ahead of final roll
The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer says most voter entries flagged for logical discrepancies or unmapped status have been corrected and assures no eligible voter will be left out.
The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi announced that roughly 20 lakh of the 33 lakh voter list entries marked as logical discrepancies or unmapped have been fixed. A proactive drive has been launched to address the remaining issues, and Booth Level Officers have been instructed to verify a minimum of ten electors each day, aiming to clear about 150,000 cases daily. Over 1.3 million of the nearly 3.3 million voters who received notices under the Special Intensive Revision have already been verified.
The verification effort has been intensified to meet the deadline for publishing the final roll on December 4, with all notices, claims and objections slated for disposal by November 30. Officials emphasized that receiving a notice does not automatically remove a name from the roll, and voters can still respond to prove eligibility.
Why it matters
Ensuring accurate voter rolls is crucial for fair elections and prevents eligible citizens from being disenfranchised.
