Delhi extends deadline for property tax amnesty scheme to December 31, 2026

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has pushed the SUNIYO 2.0 property-tax waiver deadline to Dec 31 2026, three months later than the original cut-off.

In a recent tweet, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi announced that the deadline for its SUNIYO 2.0 property-tax amnesty has been moved from September 30 to December 31 2026, giving owners an extra three months to pay. Under the “One Plus Five” rule, owners must pay the principal tax for one outlet financial year (2025-26) and the five preceding years, after which interest and penalties for those periods are waived and all earlier dues are forgiven.

The scheme covers residential, commercial, industrial and institutional properties and is open to anyone with unpaid, irregular, under-paid or disputed taxes. MCD provided a helpline number (7065064988) and posted FAQs on its website to guide applicants. The extension is intended to boost compliance and generate revenue for Delhi’s development projects.
