Delhi High Court Rejects Default Bail for Red Fort Blast Engineer Jasir Wani
The Delhi High Court denied default bail to Jasir Bilal Wani, accused of technical involvement in the 2025 Red Fort car bomb attack.
On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court refused to grant default bail to Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish, who faces charges linked to the 2025 Red Fort car bomb explosion. The bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Vikas Mahajan rejected his appeal against a March 30 trial-court order that denied his bail request, stating that the 90-day threshold for default bail had not been met. The NIA, which arrested Wani in November 2025, alleges he provided technical support for terrorist activities, including drone modifications and rocket attempts, and collaborated with suicide bomber Umar un Nabi.
The blast, caused by a Hyundai i20 near the Red Fort at 6.52 pm, resulted in 15 fatalities and multiple injuries. A May 2026 chargesheet described Wani as the module’s “in-house engineer.” The court’s decision keeps him in custody pending further proceedings.
Why it matters
The ruling keeps a key terrorism suspect detained, affecting ongoing investigations into a major attack on a national landmark.
