Delhi municipal body orders demolition of 12 structures and seals 11 sites
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi carried out 46 demolitions, sealed 11 properties and issued 12 demolition orders across all 12 zones in a city-wide enforcement drive.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi intensified its city-wide crackdown on hazardous and unauthorized constructions, executing 46 demolition actions and sealing 11 properties across all 12 zones. Additionally, 12 demolition orders were issued against sites found in violation of the Master Plan of Delhi and building bye-laws. Major demolition sites included Kardampuri and Shahdara in the North-East Zone, as well as Shastri Park in the East Zone and several locations in Swaroop Nagar and Rani Bagh.
The corporation stressed that no illegal building will be tolerated and directed field officers to maintain strict vigilance. This drive follows a deadly collapse in Satya Niketan near Delhi University's South Campus, which the Delhi High Court described as the result of "callous and criminal conduct". The enforcement effort is presented as a preventive measure to avoid further tragedies.
