Delhi-NCR battered by heavy rain and thunderstorms, causing floods and traffic jams
Heavy rain and thunderstorms swept Delhi-NCR on Monday, leading to widespread waterlogging and traffic congestion.
A red alert for intense rain and a yellow alert for moderate rain were issued across multiple districts of Delhi-NCR. The storm brought lightning, gusty winds of 30-40 kmph and localized flooding in areas such as South East Delhi, Shahdara and Central Delhi. Commuters reported severe gridlock on social media as water accumulated on roads. Temperatures fell to 27.8°C at Safdarjung, slightly above the seasonal norm, while The Ridge recorded a low of 24°C.
