Delhi police nab couple for allegedly funneling Indian SIM cards to Pakistan spies

Delhi Police’s Special Cell disclosed that Md Sahil and his wife Sameera have been operating an alleged Pakistan ISI-backed espionage cell since 2024. After connecting with Pakistani agents on social media, they received Rs 30,000 to procure eight Indian SIM cards, which they sent to Pakistan through Dubai during 2024 and 2025. The cards were activated on online messaging platforms, allowing the handlers to join Indian WhatsApp groups and solicit information from citizens.

The couple also allegedly recruited individuals to conduct reconnaissance of cantonment zones and to collect data on army personnel awaiting court-martial hearings. Sahil’s mobile phone, seized during his arrest, reportedly contained conversations with the foreign handlers, leading to Sameera’s subsequent detention. Police recovered two phones from the pair, and forensic examinations are said to have confirmed the alleged links. The investigation continues to identify additional members of the network and assess the scope of information transmitted to Pakistan.
