Delhi Police to Deploy 15,000 Officers and Paramilitary Units for BRICS Summit Security
Around 15,000 Delhi Police officers and 200 paramilitary units will be mobilised to secure the BRICS summit, handling law-and-order, security and traffic.
A multi-layered security operation is being organised for the BRICS summit slated for September 12-13 at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. About 15,000 Delhi Police officers, backed by 200 paramilitary units, will manage law-and-order, security and traffic across the capital, including the airport and hotels used by delegations. Manish Kumar Agrawal, Special Commissioner for Protective/Security, said the deployment aims to maximise safety for foreign dignitaries while keeping public inconvenience to a minimum.
Detailed route surveys and advance traffic advisories have been issued, and meetings with neighbouring states ensure smooth movement of officials. Intelligence inputs are being shared among all involved agencies, and the force pledges to balance stringent security with normal city life.
