Delhi Police to host rental-rights workshop for Northeast migrants
The Delhi Police will conduct an awareness session on September 1 to educate Northeast residents, including Gorkhas and Ladakhis, about rental agreements and security-deposit disputes.
On September 1, the Delhi Police’s Special Police Unit for North-East Region will hold an information session at its Nanak Pura office in Moti Bagh, beginning at 3.30 pm. The workshop targets migrants from the Northeast, including Gorkhas from Darjeeling and Ladakhis, and aims to clarify tenants' rights and duties regarding written rent contracts and security-deposit refunds or deductions. Participants will be urged to retain lease documents and proof of payments to avoid future conflicts with landlords.
Police will circulate a detailed advisory among the Northeast community with assistance from local students and community leaders. The initiative seeks to reduce rental disputes by improving awareness of legal obligations on both sides.
