Delhi sees cooler morning temperatures as AQI rises to moderate level

Delhi recorded a minimum of 23.2 °C on Friday, slightly below normal, while the city’s AQI increased to 173, staying in the moderate range.

Delhi’s base weather station at Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 23.2 °C on Friday, marginally lower than the seasonal norm and 0.8 °C cooler than Thursday’s 24 °C. Nearby stations—Ridge, Lodhi Road, Ayanagar and Palam—also reported cool morning readings between 21.2 °C and 22.8 °C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD’s outlook calls for largely clear skies and dry weather across the Delhi-NCR region, with maximum temperatures expected to hover around 34 °C and no significant rainfall.

An IMD official noted that a recent weather system that had brought cooler conditions has moved away, reducing cloud cover. Air quality remained in the moderate category, with the Delhi Pollution Control Committee logging a city-wide AQI of 173 at 9 am, higher than the previous day’s 166, and identifying PM10 as the primary pollutant. The data highlight a slight cooling trend alongside a modest deterioration in air quality.
