Delivery unions demand algorithmic transparency and stronger protections in upcoming labor bill
Delivery worker unions held a large protest and met with the Ministry of Labour, pressing for algorithmic transparency, contractor limits and fair pay in the pending legislation.
Delivery unions continued dynamic mobilisations, pressuring the Ministry of Labour to adopt critical reforms through a draft law currently being shaped. Representatives from fourteen unions met officials and presented a memorandum that references the 2024/2831 community directive. The protest, preceded by a rally, emphasized the need for algorithmic transparency so workers can understand how they are paid, evaluated and assigned orders.
Unions also seek limits on subcontractors to prevent platforms from evading responsibility, and they demand a fair minimum hourly wage that is distinct from mileage reimbursements. Additionally, they call for platforms to assume liability for any work-related accidents. The Assembly of Base Workers of Drivers also participated, with the Efood Drivers Union staging a four-hour strike under the slogan “STOP platform chaos.”
Why it matters
The demands could reshape labor standards for gig-economy workers across Greece.
