Delta revives Texas presence with new Austin-Paris service

Delta announced a direct flight from Austin to Paris, marking its return to Texas after closing its Dallas hub in 2005.

Delta Air Lines is re-entering the Texas market by adding a nonstop Austin-Paris route, scheduled to begin on March 27, 2027, using an A330-900 aircraft with 281 seats. The move follows the airline’s 2005 decision to close its Dallas/Fort Worth hub amid a post-9/11 industry downturn. Chief commercial officer Joe Esposito highlighted Austin’s position between American’s Dallas hub and United’s Houston hub, as well as the city’s booming economy driven by companies like Tesla and Apple.

Currently, Delta runs 65 daily departures from Austin and expects the new international service to complement existing connections, though it stops short of calling the airport a hub. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s CEO Ghizlane Badawi welcomed the addition, noting ongoing expansion plans that will increase gate capacity by the 2030s.

Why it matters

Delta's new Austin-Paris flight restores a major carrier to Texas, boosting local connectivity and economic growth.
