Democrat Leela Gray attacks Rep. Anna Paulina Luna over alleged insider tips

Democratic challenger Leela Gray has released her first TV ad accusing Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of participating in a corrupt culture and sharing insider information with a donor.

Leela Gray, a retired Army Brigadier General running as a Democrat in Florida, has launched her inaugural campaign advertisement targeting Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna. The spot accuses Luna of contributing to a "culture of corruption" in Washington and of providing insider information to a donor amid escalating living costs for constituents. It also features one outlet headline that references one outlet's story alleging Luna gave a conservative influencer tips about President Trump's vice-presidential selection to place a bet on the Polymarket platform.

Luna has refuted the allegations and warned one outlet of potential legal action. While some recent polling suggests the contest is close or even slightly favors Gray, the nonpartisan Cook Political Report continues to label the district as likely to stay Republican. Democrats view the seat as potentially winnable despite Florida's recent rightward shift.

Why it matters

The ad intensifies a tight Florida congressional race and raises questions about alleged insider trading by a sitting member of Congress.
