Democratic challenger Angie Nixon tops incumbent Ashley Moody in Q3 fundraising
Angie Nixon raised $7.9 million in the third quarter, outpacing incumbent Republican Senator Ashley Moody’s $5.8 million, largely thanks to small-donor contributions.
Campaign finance filings show that Democrat Angie Nixon raised $7.9 million in the third quarter of 2026, overtaking Republican incumbent Senator Ashley Moody, who reported $5.8 million for the same period. Small-donor contributions under $200 comprised 61% of Nixon’s total, highlighting a surge in grassroots support, while only about 10% of Moody’s receipts came from similar donors. Nixon’s overall fundraising to date stands at $8.5 million with $4.5 million remaining in cash, compared with Moody’s $20.6 million raised and $7.2 million on hand entering October.
Nixon’s larger donors were progressive committees and politicians, including a $250,000 pledge from Senator Bernie Sanders and contributions from the Service Employees International Union and several Democratic senators and representatives. Moody’s major backers included national Republican committees, Fidelity National, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the Air Line Pilots Association, and Florida citrus growers. Polls still show Moody ahead by roughly six points, and the seat remains rated “Solid Republican” by the Cook Political Report.
