Democratic gubernatorial hopeful David Crowley declines to campaign with Hasan Piker

During a Wednesday interview, Democratic gubernatorial contender David Crowley announced he will not campaign alongside Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, describing the latter’s platform as potentially divisive for the party. Crowley said he wants to avoid lending credibility to outlets that he believes fracture Democrats and the nation, while still encouraging inclusive dialogue. He noted that many community members and supporters can help broaden the party’s appeal.

Piker, who previously appeared with socialist primary opponent Francesca Hong, posted on X that the “knives will be out” for the left after Hong’s loss, suggesting the establishment will work harder against insurgent candidates. Analyst Eric Ham argued that Crowley’s stance could further split the party at a crucial time for upcoming elections. The Democratic Socialists of America have not yet responded to requests for comment.
