Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell pushes back on Hasan Piker controversy amid Michigan Senate race

At an Ann Arbor event with Rep. Jamie Raskin, Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell declared she was “done” answering any further questions about Hasan Piker, a streamer whose past remarks have drawn Republican attacks on the Michigan Senate race. Dingell emphasized that the election should center on topics like healthcare, affordability and hunger, not on Piker’s controversial statements. She noted she disagrees with many of Piker’s views and questioned why his physical appearance garners so much attention.

Conservative accounts, including the Republican National Committee’s research feed and the Crime Prevention Research Center, mocked her remarks and suggested the Democrats were vulnerable. The criticism intensified after Dingell campaigned alongside Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who has not disavowed Piker. Dingell’s spokesperson confirmed she will not discuss the streamer further, framing the focus on policy issues instead of personal attacks.
