Democratic voters in early 2028 primary states largely reject aid to Israel

A YouGov poll released by the IMEU Policy Project reveals that Democratic voters in the six early-primary states for the 2028 presidential race overwhelmingly oppose U.S. aid and weapons sales to Israel. Respondents in South Carolina, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Michigan and Virginia also largely view Israel's actions in Gaza as genocidal and support imposing sanctions and enforcing the International Criminal Court warrant against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Michigan showed the strongest sentiment, with 80% believing Israel is committing genocide and 91% of voters under 45 agreeing. In South Carolina, the first primary state, 52% oppose selling arms to Israel and only 2% back military support. The poll underscores a sharp decline in Democratic backing for Israel, a trend accelerated by the Gaza conflict that began in October 2023, and may shape candidate platforms ahead of the 2028 nomination process.
