Democrats Pull Ahead on 11 of 12 Key Issues in New Pre-Midterm Poll
A poll conducted Oct. 9-13 shows Democrats leading Republicans on 11 of 12 major issues, with only crime favoring the GOP.
In a poll taken Oct. 9-13, Democrats eclipsed Republicans on 11 of 12 issues tested, including a two-point lead on immigration and a 23-point advantage on healthcare. They also held double-digit leads on education, cost of living, inflation, foreign policy toward Iran and the Israel-Gaza war, the economy, transgender issues, government corruption and taxes. Republicans kept a five-point lead only on crime.
The survey showed Trump’s approval slipping to 33 percent, while most respondents disapproved of his Iran strategy and blamed his policies for higher living costs. Separate Pew and one outlet/Ipsos polls highlighted growing public anxiety about gasoline, food and healthcare prices. The findings suggest shifting voter sentiment ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
Why it matters
The poll indicates a broad shift toward Democrats on most voter concerns, influencing the upcoming midterm race.
