Denmark postpones 2027 preliminary tax returns by two weeks
The Danish Tax Authority will release the 2027 preliminary tax assessments two weeks later than usual to incorporate upcoming deduction changes.
The Danish Tax Authority announced that the 2027 preliminary tax assessments, known as forskudsopgørelse, will become available about two weeks after the typical early-November launch. Vice chair Ulrick Junge said the postponement is needed to embed several tax rule updates expected to be approved by parliament, including revised deductions for sports and music lessons, senior employment credits, and a higher standard deduction for childcare workers.
He noted that many people rely on these changes and the extra time will ensure the assessments are accurate. Last year, hundreds of thousands accessed the portal quickly, and 800,000 taxpayers had to repay an average of 9,850 kroner, totaling 7.9 billion kroner. The delay is intended to reduce such surprise liabilities for the upcoming tax year.
Why it matters
The shift gives Danish taxpayers more accurate information and helps prevent large unexpected tax bills.
