Denmark says Russia has stepped up sabotage of firms supplying Ukraine

Denmark's intelligence agency reports that Russia has begun direct sabotage attacks on Danish companies that provide weapons to Ukraine, after earlier broader disruption attempts failed.

A senior analyst from Denmark's national security and intelligence service told a homeland security conference that Russia has escalated its hybrid warfare by carrying out sabotage against Danish defence firms that ship weapons to Ukraine. Early in the year, Moscow focused on broad-spectrum disruption, but after seeing little effect on NATO aid to Kyiv, it shifted to direct attacks on weapons production. The analyst cited a Russian defence ministry list of European drone component makers as potential targets.

Russia is reportedly employing untrained individuals, recruited through Telegram and other platforms, who begin with reconnaissance before moving to sabotage. Denmark's defence intelligence service warned that such hybrid attacks are likely to increase, echoing recent incidents like the drone disruptions at Danish airports in 2025. The Russian embassy in Copenhagen has denied the accusations, and no comment was obtained from Moscow on the latest claims.

Why it matters

The sabotage threatens European defence supply chains and could widen the conflict's impact on NATO members.
