Deported Cuban Sex Offender Arrested While Attempting Illegal Entry in Texas
Border Patrol agents in Eagle Pass, Texas, stopped a group of four migrants on August 19 and identified one as a deported Cuban convicted of a child sex crime.
On August 19, Border Patrol agents in Eagle Pass, Texas, chased and detained a quartet of suspected illegal entrants. Among them was 52-year-old Alexis Suarez-Trejos, a Cuban citizen previously convicted in 2001 of a child sexual assault in Clark County, Nevada, for which he received a 40-month prison term and was listed on the Nevada sex offender registry. Following his conviction and incarceration, he was removed from the United States and deported on Oct. 22, 2025.
The recent apprehension revealed his attempt to re-enter the country, leading to charges of illegal re-entry after deportation under 8 U.S.C. § 1326, a violation that can result in up to 20 years of imprisonment for an aggravated felon. Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony “Scott” Good highlighted the threat posed by individuals who target children. The incident occurred amid heightened Border Patrol staffing, which officials say has improved the agency’s ability to intercept illegal crossings.
