Deputies Open Fire After Suspect Opens Trunk Containing a Corpse in Chino Hills

Sheriff’s deputies in Chino Hills shot a driver who opened his car’s trunk, where investigators say a dead body was found.

In a residential area of Chino Hills, California, sheriff’s deputies halted a Nissan Altima bearing Oregon registration on Wednesday evening. A passenger exited the vehicle with his hands raised, but the driver later re-entered, approached the trunk and opened it, prompting the discovery of a body covered by a white sheet. Deputies then discharged their weapons, hitting the driver as he and the passenger dropped to the ground.

The incident, captured on video, left the deputies unharmed while the condition of the passenger remains unclear. Yellow tape now surrounds the 2400 block of Wandering Ridge Drive, where homicide investigators are present. The Chino Hills Police Department confirmed the shooting and assured the community that no further suspects are at large and no immediate danger exists.
