Deputy premier unveils $154 million riverside tower project on former athletes village
Deputy premier Jarrod Bleijie announced a plan to build 13 luxury towers and mixed-use facilities on a six-hectare former Olympic village site in Hamilton.
Jarrod Bleijie, Queensland’s deputy premier, revealed a $154 million investment to transform a six-hectare riverside parcel in Hamilton, previously earmarked for the Olympic athletes village, into a high-density precinct. Five separate developers will erect 13 towers containing 2,200 apartments ranging from one to four bedrooms, alongside a supermarket, childcare, medical facilities and a 50-bed hotel. Red & Co, Joe Adsett Developments and Graya will build the three riverfront towers, while Lancini will anchor the centre with a 15,000-square-metre retail hub and Greyburn will add four mid-rise blocks with ground-floor shops.
Road upgrades and site works are scheduled to begin in 2028, and the project aims for completion by 2032, though no firm deadline was given. Bleijie did not specify the purchase price for the riverfront land or which party will fund essential infrastructure such as sewerage, and he emphasized the need for skilled migrant workers to meet construction demand.
